After spending close to two decades as a professional tuba player in the Band of the Royal New Zealand Navy, Craig was looking for a lifestyle change. He knew he wanted to work outdoors and become his own boss, so he jumped at the chance to join Crewcut in 2020.

Gearing himself up with a Victa professional mower, a Testarossa mower, a Shindaiwa line trimmer, and an Echo blower, he built his customer base around Auckland’s North Shore and started providing his professional services there.

In 2021, he made the big move to New Plymouth and now serves lawn and garden customers from Port Taranaki to Bell Block and everywhere in between.

Now, his customers know him for lawn mowing and weed-eating that saves them a lot of time and effort. Craig has always been fit and active, so the lifestyle change to lawn mowing and weed eating wasn’t a drastic one. He’s fussy in his workmanship and enjoys helping his customers become proud of their properties.

But it’s not all work and no play for Craig. In his downtime, he enjoys playing the tuba and spending time with his family and grandson on the weekends.

Since joining Crewcut, Craig has learned a lot. He believes that it’s essential to take on board as much advice as possible, be organised, flexible, and plan your workload.

It doesn’t matter where you look in Northern Taranaki, you’re sure to find Neil out and about with his lawn care equipment, taking care of business. Neil covers a large area around New Plymouth, making sure he can provide a convenient and reliable service for as many people as possible.

From lawn mowing and gardening through to hedge trimming and general lawn care, there’s almost nothing he won’t do for his loyal clients. Even though Neil keeps busy, however, he’s all about maintaining a work-life balance.

He has worked a variety of jobs, however the long hours and lack of family time no longer appealed. Remembering the freedom of his lawn mowing run as a sprightly 12-year-old, he decided to join Crewcut in 2016 to see what he could make of it.

During the growth season, Neil’s wife also helps out with gardening. Otherwise, he tends to his customer base himself using battery-powered hand tools and a Testarossa ride-on mower. He’s personable, takes pride in what he does, and customises his services to suit the needs of his customers.
